We have uploaded the Grand Finals of KHSDC VII to YouTube with the consent of both the Bugil team and the Daewon team. Again we want to thank everyone for a successful tournament and we are looking forward to next year at KHSDC VIII!
Bugil A defeated Daewon A in a 7-0 unanimous decision to claim victory in the KHSDC VII Grand Finals and take home their school’s first national tournament trophy.
Continuing its meteoric rise in competitive high school debate, Bugil Academy fielded two teams in the quarterfinals and became the fifth school to win a KHSDC title after SIS(2), Daewon(2), HAFS(1), and KMLA(1).
With two freshmen and one sophomore, the Bugil A team of Taeon Ahn, Taeyeon Lee, and Yonghyun Kwon is also the youngest to have ever won KHSDC.
Although failing in their bid to win an unprecedented third KHSDC title, Daewon continued its amazing run of 5 grand finals appearances in the 6 KHSDCs that it has participated in.
After leading his team to the semi-finals, national team member Chan Keun Kim from HAFS claimed the title of Speaker of the Tournament. Julia Kim, a 9th grader from KIS, was recognized as Top Rookie Speaker after her all-rookie team’s sensational run to the quarterfinals.

After five closely contested rounds, a place in the top 8 still remains very much up for grabs in a wide open field.
Leading the pack is HAFS CDK, who stand atop the table with a perfect 4-0 record.
Behind them are no less than 6 teams from 5 different schools, each with three wins to their name. Bugil A, Daewon A, KMLA A, KIS, GAFL A, and Bugil C are all within touching distance of the break and still have a chance to finish the preliminary rounds in pole position.
Other teams are also still very much in the running, as anywhere from 3 to 6 three win teams may break depending on how the remaining results fall.

KHSDC VII starts tomorrow at 0830 at SIS
When you arrive at SIS, make your way towards the auditorium, where registration and opening ceremonies will take place. You’ll find it immediately inside the main building.
Registration will open at 0830 and close at 0900, with the opening ceremonies starting immediately after.
I’m also happy to announce that I’ve just picked up your medals/plaques/trophies.
Here’s a sneak preview at the silverware you might be able to get your hands on in a couple of days time.
Not to forget, of course, that you’ve also got the opportunity to challenge KMLA’s defense of the KHSDC cup!
We are now only three days away from the tournament!
Official letters (공문) to help you be excused from classes on Saturday have been sent out to all of your schools. If you need one and have not gotten one, please contact me immediately so I can help you out.
All in all preparations for the tournament are finally in the home stretch and it looks like all that’s left is to have the pleasure of meeting all of you this weekend. At this point, if there is anything you’re not sure about (where/when to go etc.) give me a call and I’ll sort you out asap.

Although registration closed yesterday, we will be accepting late registrations up till Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011. Please feel free to send in your registrations if you couldn’t get the paperwork together in time or just had a change of heart.

There have been several teams that have asked about the possibility of having an EFL table at KHSDC VII.
We are currently considering having separate awards for EFL teams/speakers if there is enough demand. If you would like to register as EFL, please indicate this anywhere on your registration form.
If you have already registered, please contact myself at oldtype09@gmail.com about wanting to be registered as an EFL team.
We will make a decision on whether or not to have an EFL table after looking at how many teams would be participating.
* You are eligible for EFL if you have spent less than 1 year abroad in an English-speaking country.

The deadline for registration remains Friday, March 18th, 2011. All documentation and payment must be received by this time.

참가 마감일은 종전에 공지한 대로 2011년 3월 18일 금요일입니다. 이 때까지 서류와 참가비가 모두 접수되어야 합니다.
Q. Is there a school cap in place for KHSDC?
A. There is no school cap for KHSDC. Each school is free to field as many teams as they wish.
Q. Who should hand in the registration form? Teachers or individual teams?
A. For administrative purposes, we would prefer that each school submit a single registration form for all of their teams.
However, for schools that do not have a faculty representatives or other cases in which a single form is not feasible, teams may register individually. In this case, simply disregard the top portion of the registration form which asks for liaison information and use only one of the “team” sections.
Q. Can we register teams with members from different schools?
No. The restriction on “swing” teams remains in place. All team members must be from the same institution.
Q. Is there a judge quota?
There is no judge quota for KHSDC VII. Teams do not need to “bring their own judge.”
Q. I have classes on Saturday, April 2nd. How do I get out of school?
We will be issuing an official letter of invitation to all schools that are sending teams after registration has concluded.
Q. How much is the registration fee?
We will be making an announcement on registration fees tomorrow.

A. 본 대회에 학교당 참가 팀 수 제한은 없습니다.
Q. 참가신청은 누가 합니까? 학교에서 일괄적으로 선생님이 합니까 아니면 팀별로 따로 합니까?
A. 행정 간소화를 이하여 가능하다면 학교별로 일괄적으로 신청하시기를 추천합니다.
그러나 해당 업무를 담당할 만한 선생님이 없거나 기타 이유로 일괄 신청이 불가능할 경우에는 팀별 개별 신청도 받고 있습니다. 이 경우 신청서 윗 부분 (Liaison 정보란) 은 공란으로 두시고 팀 정보란 중 하나만을 활용하여 신청해 주십시요.
Q. 다른 학교 소속의 학생들이 같은 팀으로 등록할 수 있습니까?
아닙니다. 모든 팀은 같은 학교에 다니는 학생들로 이루어져야 합니다.

KHSDC VII의 참가팀들은 의무적으로 심판을 1명씩 제공할 필요가 없으니 걱정하지 않으셔도 됩니다.
Q. 4월 2일 토요일 학교 수업이 있는데, 어떻게 합니까?
참가접수 마감 후 일괄적으로 각 학교에 직인이 찍힌 공문을 발송할 예정입니다.
Q. 참가비는 얼마입니까?
